No, we don't understand the name of this school either. The students are anything but hopeless! Yawla ran the MY STORY photo project for 10 days with 8 students sharing 4 cameras. Here are some of the results:

This school is housed in a rabbit warren of 2 buildings behind the Mae Sot market. 400+ students study here, climbing over each other to get to their miniscule classrooms with an enthusiasm that is largely due to Saw Eh Shoe. He is the diminutive principal who has a twinkle in his eye and doesn't let his lack of English or our lack of Karen get in the way of educating his kids.
Yawla and Eh Shoe took the MY STORY photo ToT (training of teachers) last year and got to work in May of 2010, during school's summer vacation. It's hot season here, just before the rains arrive, and we can't say we envied them sitting in a hot classroom. But we think the results speak for themselves. To paraphrase Jack Kerouac on Robert Frank's photos: 'They got eyes!'
